Representatives from NHS Borders, Borders College and Jobcentre Plus came together on Thursday 3rd December to celebrate the success of ten trainees who completed a ten week ‘Catering for Life’ programme.

The event attendees were welcomed by Stephanie Bell, Borders College Business Liaison Advisor for Hospitality, Food and Tourism who highlighted the value of the programme to the Trainees and recognised the contributions of the three partners involved; Borders College, NHS Borders and Jobcentre Plus.

Presenting the certificates, Deidre McKendry, Head of Business Development at Borders College said: “Borders College is delighted to play a key role in this successful programme which gives trainees the opportunity to achieve industry recognised qualifications, develop new skills, improve confidence and increase opportunities for their future employment.

June Smyth, Director of Workforce and Planning for NHS Borders said: “I would like to convey my congratulations to the trainees on their commitment and drive in successfully completing the programme. I would also like to thank our partner agencies for working together to make employment programmes a valuable experience for unemployed people.”
