About Our Service

Lindean is a small 6-bedded ward, caring for older adults aged 70 years plus, with acute mental health problems which require hospital admission.

Admissions to the ward are by referral to the Mental Health Older Adult Team (MHOAT). We do not take direct referrals from social workers or GPs.

We aim to provide a high standard of care and promote independence and well being. We will achieve this by:

  • Continuous assessment and review of each patient's physical, psychological, social and individual needs
  • Involving both the patient and their carer in planning their care together with their named nurse
  • Close liaison with MHOAT, social work, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pharmaceutical staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team to co-ordinate patients' care
  • Providing care from experienced, qualified staff who specialise in the field of mental health care
