9 March 2018
An overnight road resurfacing scheme will take place on the A6091 at the Borders General Hospital Junction from Monday 12 March until Friday 16 March 2018. Work will be carried out between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night.
This work is part of the road safety improvement scheme currently taking place at the entrance to the hospital, and is restoring the road surface now that trunking and other equipment for the new crossing has been installed.
To allow this work to take place there will be a full road closure of the A6091 from B6374 Melrose Junction and Melrose Roundabout with a signed diversion route. Emergency vehicles will be granted access throughout the duration of works.
Eastbound traffic will be diverted onto the B6360 and then onto the B6374 Waverley Road. Upon reaching Buccleuch Street, traffic will merge with Abbey Street and will return onto the B6374 High Street. From here, traffic will be able to re-join the A6091. Westbound traffic will follow the same route but in the opposite direction.
Traffic intending to visit the hospital from the East will be diverted onto the B6394 Abbotsford Road followed by Chiefswood Road. Traffic requiring westerly access will be diverted via the B6394 Highcross Avenue and Chiefswood Road.
This work has been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, the emergency services, Scottish Borders General Hospital and Scottish Borders Council.
