Our Wellbeing Services have combined to help more Borderers improve their health. This new single service replaces and brings together the previous LASS (Lifestyle Advice and Support Service), Doing Well and Quit Your Way services.

Our interventions evidence based and provide early preventative support for people who wish to change their lifestyle and improve their emotional wellbeing. The Wellbeing Service includes:

  • Stop smoking services
  • Lifestyle advice and support to increase physical activity, reduce weight and eat healthily
  • Support to improve low to moderate mental wellbeing

The new integrated Wellbeing Service means that every Wellbeing Service Adviser is trained to deliver support across these three distinctive strands of support. This brings benefits such as:

  • Increased accessibility
  • Improved patient journey
  • Provision of holistic support which increases availability of specific lifestyle and wellbeing work across Borders
  • Increased service capacity

Dr Tim Patterson, Director of Public Health, said: "Previously patients could see up to three separate advisers, one for each of the support strands included within our overall Wellbeing Service.

"Now our simplified and streamlined service means that every patient will only see one Wellbeing Service Adviser who is dedicated to their care and trained to offer tailored support across a range of topics.

"This ensures our patients receive more integrated, person-centred care which can address multiple factors that may be affecting them. For example someone experiencing low mood may make poorer diet and exercise choices, so now one adviser can provide holistic and tailored support for each person.

"We welcome self-referrals to our Wellbeing Service. Please get in touch by calling 01896 824502 to make an appointment or ask your local GP Practice or Health Centre to refer you so that we can support you to improve your health and wellbeing."
