From 31 March 2021 a new GP Partnership will be in place at Duns Medical Group.
This follows the impending retirement of current Practice Partners Dr Megahy and Dr McCann.
Having completed an extensive piece of work in partnership, NHS Borders has awarded the contract to Ayrshire Medical Group, who have extensive experience of providing General Medical Services and already run two GP Practices.
General Manager for Primary and Community Services at NHS Borders, Mr Chris Myers said: “I am delighted that we have been successful in securing a new GP Partnership to take up the reins at Duns Medical Group.
“I am confident that the new Partnership, Dr Ali and partners will continue to provide a high quality service for the patients, whose care will continue to be provided from the existing Practice premises at the Knoll Health Centre. I am also very pleased to say that the existing Practice staff are being offered the opportunity to continue their employment with the new Partnership.
“I would like to thank everyone who has participated in the process of providing feedback on the options that were available to us. We received over 500 contacts from patients, and considered all of the feedback in our decision making process. Overwhelmingly the preferred option was for a new GP Partnership to take over and operate from within the existing premises so it is pleasing for everyone that we have been successful in achieving that outcome.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere thanks and best wishes for the future to Dr McCann and Dr Megahy.”
Incoming Partner Dr Ali said: “It is with great pleasure that we will be providing primary care services to the patients of Duns Medical Group. The Practice has an excellent reputation for providing high quality care and we look forward to building on that reputation and getting to know our patients over the coming weeks and months.”
