NHS Borders is encouraging people living with dementia, unpaid carers and those who work with and support them in the Borders to take part in a virtual event later this month.
The Community & Dementia: Creating Better Lives in Scottish Borders' Virtual Event will be held on the 29th July 2021 from 3pm – 4:15pm. This is being hosted by Life Changes Trust, a charity which supports people living with dementia and unpaid carers of people with dementia.
The event will bring people together with the common aim of sharing experiences and learning to create positive change for people affected by dementia; providing them a meaningful platform to discuss how they want to receive support locally.
Christine Proudfoot, Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Nurse Consultant at NHS Borders, said: “'This is a fabulous opportunity to share your experiences. We are keen to hear from those living with dementia and their carers about what really matters. During the session you will have the opportunity to raise any questions to the specialist panel to improve lives for people living with dementia locally.”
This specialist panel will include:
- Ralph Roberts (Chief Executive, NHS Borders)
- Lynn Gallagher (Centre Manager, Borders Carers Centre)
- Christine Proudfoot (Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Nurse Consultant, NHS Borders)
- Brian Paris (Chief Officer, Adult Social Care, Scottish Borders Council and Chair, Borders Dementia Strategy Group)
- Jenny Smith (Chief Officer, Borders Care Voice)
