The Teviot River in Hawick has risen as a result of the heavy rainfall. The river is expected to rise to levels that will impact access on Teviot Road at around 4pm.
We therefore took the decision to close Teviot Health Centre, and all services that operate within the health centre including the pharmacy and GP practice at 3pm today as a precaution.
All patients affected by this closure have been notified. Those who have an appointment tomorrow will be notified if the building cannot re-open in the morning.
The situation is being closely monitored and updates will be advised as soon as possible.
Our community health teams will continue to make every effort to visit their patients in the Hawick area. However there may be some disruption and delay due to the weather conditions. Patients will be contacted directly in the event of any problems.
If you need urgent medical advice please contact NHS 24 on 111. If the condition is immediately life threatening, dial 999 for an emergency ambulance.
