We are immensely proud that Neil Jackson, Psychiatric Liaison Nurse, scooped up the Care for Mental Health Award at the prestigious Scotland’s Health Awards ceremony at Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange last night.
Neil fought off stiff competition from three colleagues across Scotland who were also finalists for the award.
Speaking about his achievement, Neil said: “It’s incredibly rewarding to be recognised with this award. My role as a Psychiatric Liaison Nurse brings together experience in acute mental health, addiction, trauma and crisis care - all within a general healthcare setting. This is greatly satisfying as a nurse to have such significant input supporting the people I meet. I see this recognition as a reflection of the whole Psychiatric Liaison Service, where we all strive to deliver holistic person-centred care.”
Karen Hamilton, NHS Borders Chair said: “This award is a testament to Neil’s unwavering commitment to our values and the people we serve here in the Borders. The annual Scotland’s Health Awards is a prestigious national event which celebrates the dedication, compassion and innovation that defines health and social care in Scotland. Neil’s work exemplifies the very best of our organisation and we’re incredibly proud to see him recognised nationally in such a distinguished way. I am thrilled to see Neil bring home an award to the Borders and proud of our finalists Alex Mundell, Clinical Pharmacist for Critical Care, and Vikki Gray, Healthcare Support Worker, who also represented us last night at the awards ceremony in Edinburgh.”
