This Organ and Tissue Donation Week (22 – 29 September 2025) we are encouraging people to leave no doubt when it comes to their donation decision.
In Scotland, everyone has a choice when it comes to organ and tissue donation - to be a donor or not.
Whatever your decision it can be recorded on the Organ Donor Register which doctors can then easily check if required.
Harriet Campbell, Chair of the Organ and Tissue Donation Committee at NHS Borders, said : "It is really important that as many people as possible register their decision whether that is to donate or not. That way families and medics can be sure of what you want and can be certain to follow your wishes.
"By being an organ and tissue donor, you could give up to seven people a second chance at life. If you would like to find out more, please come along to Asda in Galashiels this Thursday, 25 September 2025, between 10am and 12 noon to chat with us at an information stall.
“At NHS Borders we are privileged to support donor recipients, living donors and their families on their different journeys. This year we have created a quiet garden at our Borders General Hospital site to recognise this and give space for reflection and remembrance.
