Who We Are
We are a small team of Psychologists working to support the wellbeing of adults (aged 18 and over) with a Learning Disability across the Scottish Borders. Our service is designed for individuals who may benefit from specialist psychological support to help manage emotional, behavioural, or cognitive difficulties.
What We Offer
We provide a range of services tailored to individual needs, including:
- Direct clinical support for service users
- Psychological formulation and differential diagnosis to better understand presenting difficulties
- Neuropsychological assessments to explore concerns around thinking, memory, or cognition
- Risk assessments for individuals involved in the criminal justice system
- Advice and support for parents, carers, and professionals
- Adapted evidence-based therapies, modified to suit individual needs
- Training and consultation for staff and third-sector organisations
- Reflective practice sessions with service providers
- Support for service development, including staff training and policy implementation
- Delivery of interventions such as Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- Implementation of national policies and best practice guidelines
Who Might You See?
Our team includes:
- A Consultant Psychologist
- A Clinical Psychologist
- Trainee Clinical Psychologists (on supervised placements throughout the year)
- An Assistant Psychologist
You may work with any member of the team, depending on who is best suited to support your needs.
Where Will You Be Seen?
We aim to meet you in a location that is most convenient and comfortable for you. This could include:
- Your home
- A health centre or clinic
- Your day centre or place of placement
How to Access the Service
We accept referrals from:
- Members of the Learning Disability Team (including health and social care professionals)
- GPs, mental health professionals, and social care staff outside our team

👋 Who We Are
We are a small team of psychologists.
We help adults (18 and over) in the Scottish Borders who have a learning disability and need support with their mental health or behaviour.
