RENEW provides a range of psychological interventions for adults aged 18 and over who are experiencing mild to moderate anxiety or depression.
Who Might You See?
Our team includes a variety of trained professionals who will work with you to find the most suitable treatment option. You may be matched with:
- Assistant Psychologists
- Enhanced Psychological Practitioners (EPPs)
- Mental Health Practitioners
- Psychological Therapists
- Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology (CAAPs)
- Clinical Psychologists
You may also meet staff who are currently in training, working under close supervision from senior team members.
Where Will You Be Seen?
Appointments are usually offered online or by phone. After your referral, a member of our team will contact you for an initial assessment to discuss your difficulties and agree on the most appropriate treatment.
Treatment Options in RENEW
Depending on your needs, you may be offered one of the following:
- Guided Self-Help
Work with an Assistant Psychologist via video to explore a self-help manual and complete activities together. - SilverCloud
An online programme offering evidence-based CBT modules for issues like low mood, anxiety, health anxiety, panic, and social anxiety. You can work through it independently or with support from an Assistant Psychologist. - Enhanced Psychological Practice Intervention
Short-term, one-to-one therapy via video with an EPP, focusing on issues such as worry, panic, low mood, and difficult thoughts. - Skills Courses
Group courses (8–10 weeks, 2 hours/week) delivered via video by CAAPs and APs. Topics include Anxiety, Low Mood, and Low Self-Esteem. - IESO Digital Therapy
Therapy delivered via a secure chat platform, suitable for a range of mental health difficulties. - One-to-One Therapy with a CAAP or Clinical Psychologist
Goal-focused therapy delivered online. Up to 10 sessions with a CAAP or 12 sessions with a Clinical Psychologist, for more complex or combined difficulties.
Referral Criteria
To access RENEW, you must:
- Be 18 years or older
- Be experiencing mild to moderate anxiety or depression
- Be able to commit to regular therapy appointments
Referrals can be made by:
- GPs
- Health Visitors
- Wellbeing Services
- Midwifery Teams
- Borders Crisis Team
- Community Mental Health Teams

- Silver Cloud – Emotional health is vital to living a balanced and productive life. These self-help programmes give you the skills to deal with everyday issues that affect your emotional health.
- Daylight – Daylight is a science-backed, digital therapy for Anxiety and Worry, personalised to your needs – no prescriptions or doctors’ visits needed. Daylight was created by leading mental health experts using evidence-based techniques, in collaboration with creative storytellers such as Pixar – because we believe mental healthcare should not only be effective, but also positive and fun. Start with just a two-minute quiz to learn more about your Worry and Anxiety and how to manage it.
- IESO Digital Health – Provides free, one to one therapy for people with common mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. Qualified therapists deliver live Cognitive Behaviour Therapy online through typed conversation in a secure virtual therapy room. You can access the session from anywhere you feel most comfortable and at a time to fit around your schedule, including evenings and weekends. Access to the service is quick and appointments are 30 or 60 minutes long. Your therapist will work closely with you to help you understand the links between what you do, think and feel, and can help you make changes in the way you think and the way you act which then affects the way you feel.
