As detailed in the Lothian Joint Formulary (LJF) https://formulary.nhs.scot/east/eye/eye-conditions/bacterial-conjunctivitis/, self-care is the recommended first line treatment for bacterial conjunctivitis. Most cases are self-limiting and resolve within 5-7 days. For children under the age of 2 years who require treatment you should refer on to their GP.
