All new staff must complete the NHS Education for Scotland (NES) Urinary Catheterisation Education Programme before undertaking urinary catheterisation.
Staff must clinically update skills on a 3 yearly basis by completing the online Urinary Catheter Training Programme.
Managers must ensure that all staff undertake training in accordance with the Urinary Catheterisation Policy.
Staff will not be deemed competent unless they have undertaken this training
Different version of training will be available for trained and untrained staff.
The new online training programme is currently under development. Staff should continue with current training until notified.
