NHS Borders has developed a Urinary Catheter Care Passport for joint use by you (medical/nursing staff) and the patient/carer to assist with catheter maintenance.

The Passport is divided into two clear sections:

   1. Patient/Carer section
   2. Nursing/Medical section

The patient/carer section includes useful information relating to the management of their catheter (do’s and don’ts), daily and weekly care information and a daily checklist

The Nursing/Medical section allows staff to record:

  • Clinical management information
  • Catheter Insertions
  • Trial without Catheter (TWOC)
  • Additional space to record important information
  • Troubleshooting guidance

Please see the Resources page to find out how to order more Passports for your area.
