Professional Q&A’s
Q. What actions can be taken if a young person referred to CAMHS has not yet attended their first initial appointment and is showing signs of deteriorating behaviour or increased risk that is felt to be associated with a mental disorder?
A. We would ask that if you were the referrer, you email us or phone us with the new information or ask the referrer to do this. We will then consider this at our multi-disciplinary team triage meeting and make a decision as to whether the concerns meet CAMHS urgent criteria. Due to ongoing high levels of demand CAMHS urgent criteria is based around level or risk and/or acute mental disorder. If it is not felt to meet the criteria CAMHS we will considerwhat else may be helpful.
