Why is sleep important?

Sleep is one of the most important ingredients children need to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Sleep supports physical growth and brain development. It enhances memory, attention, and learning abilities, helping children perform better at school.

Quality sleep helps to regulate mood and emotions, boosts their immune system and of course energy levels.

Children who don’t sleep well can see a deterioration in their daily function including reduced academic performance, motor abilities and abilities to complete basic functional tasks such as getting dressed.

However, often there are simple things we can do to improve sleep hygiene and in turn improve other aspects of our child’s function.
