Area Pharmaceutical Committee
Purpose and Aims
The purpose of the Area Pharmaceutical Committee (APC) is to advise the NHS Borders Health Board authoritatively and promptly on the pharmaceutical service needs of the area, and in so doing, to reflect the views of the profession locally.
The APC is recognised by NHS Borders as the committee representative of pharmacists for its area in accordance with Section 9 of the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978.
The APC acts as the principal professional consultative forum for pharmacists and pharmacy contractors in NHS Borders in relation to pharmaceutical services.
Membership
Members of the Area Pharmaceutical Committee represent the following groups:
- Independent Pharmacist Contractors
- Employees of Pharmacist Contractors
- Pharmacists employed by NHS Borders (including secondary care, primary care and general practice)
- Pharmacy Technicians employed by Community Pharmacy and/or NHS Borders
- Director of Pharmacy
- Member of Community Pharmacy Borders Contractors Committee
