NHS Borders was fully accredited by UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative in January 2013 – so women can expect the high standard of care as detailed on the website. This accreditation covers the hospital and all community health board facilities so these should all be breastfeeding friendly spaces. We will be reassessed in January 2016.
The Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) provides information and support for both the public and health professionals on infant feeding. The BFI aims to ensure all parents are equipped to make informed decisions about feeding their babies and are supported in their chosen feeding method.
