The deadline for the Scottish Health Awards 2015 is approaching.

A final call has been issued to people across the Scottish Borders to nominate their local healthcare hero for an accolade at the Scottish Health Awards 2015 ahead of the deadline on Tuesday 1st September.

Nominations have been flooding in from across Scotland but there are many healthcare teams and top professionals yet to be recognised for their contribution to providing outstanding patient care.

Every year, the judges search for Scotland’s finest NHS workers and volunteers from across every area of healthcare including therapists, GPs, specialist carers or volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes of NHSScotland.

There are 16 categories this year and, for the first time, included among them is one for dentists. This is a great development for the Scottish Health Awards as the work dentists do can lead to the early detection of mouth cancer and other illnesses as well as improving the state of the nation’s teeth.

Chair of NHS Borders, John Raine said: “The Scottish Health Awards are an ideal opportunity to champion and showcase the skills, dedication and commitment of staff and volunteers across Scotland.

“With the deadline fast approaching, I would like to remind local people and NHS staff to nominate individuals and teams who deserve to be recognised for their hard work and achievements.”
