Borders Alcohol and Drugs Partnership (ADP) wants to know what people in Langlee think about the effects of alcohol on their community.

On Wednesday 5 August staff and volunteers including representatives from NHS Borders and Scottish Borders Council will be inviting residents in Langlee to discuss how alcohol affects their community and what could be done to address this. This approach may involve talking to people in the street or through door to door consultation.

Elaine Torrance, Scottish Borders Council Chief Social Work Officer and ADP Chair said: “This is an new approach for the ADP and we want to hear not only what people think but also work together to address how alcohol affects the wider community.”

Dr Tim Patterson, Interim NHS Borders and Scottish Borders Council Joint Director of Public Health said: “This work will help us understand the impact of alcohol in Langlee and how we can support both community members and staff colleagues to address alcohol related issues in the local community.”

This work is part of the ADP’s strategy to support responsible drinking and reduce alcohol related harm. This approach increases the opportunity for community concerns relating to alcohol to be heard and to increase local capacity to understand and address alcohol related harm in Borders.
