Practice nurse appointments are available daily Monday to Friday.

Appointments for chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, COPD, asthma, coronary heart diease) are available Monday 2pm - 6pm and Wednesday 9am - 11am and 2pm - 6pm with the Nurse Practitioner.

If you are unable to attend your appointment please contact the surgery as soon as possible and arrange another date and time. It is important that you cancel your appointment as every month we have between 80 and 100 missed appointments. These appointments are therefore wasted and result in longer waiting times.

The surgery only closes for Public holidays over Christmas and New Year.
When we are closed, the Borders Health Board provides out of hours care via NHS24. This service operates from 6pm to 8am Monday to Friday, all weekend and public holidays.
The service can be accessed by phoning NHS24 on 111.
In a genuine emergency you should dial 999.

Home Visits

We encourage patients to come to the surgery where we have the proper equipment and facilities to perform appropriate examination and tests. We appreciate that this is not always possible. If you require a home visit please call reception before 10am. You may be asked for additional information to help the GP assess your needs. This may be followed up with a call from the GP.

Phone Calls

Our GPs can be available to discuss appropriate health related issues over the telephone. The receptionist will ask for additional information and the GP may decide based on this information that an appointment is more appropriate. If you request a telephone consultation with the GP we will require an available contact number. We cannot guarantee a time for your call back, therefore we request that you should be available throughout the day to take this call. There is only a limited number of telephone consultations available per day so your request may be added to the following day.

Sickness Certificates

You can self certify for any illness lasting 7 days or less by completing the form SC2 available from your employer and on the HMRC website. If you are sick more than 7 days and require a certificate we would ask that you make an appointment to see the GP.

Repeat Prescriptions

WE DO NOT TAKE REQUESTS FOR PRESCRIPTIONS OVER THE PHONE

Requests should be in writing using the right hand side of your prescription, a prescription request form from reception or via patient access. You can also use your prescription collection service through your preferred chemist.

We endeavour to issue your prescription request within 24 hours (e.g. if a prescription is handed into the surgery before 10am on a Monday this will be ready to collect or sent to your chemist of choice by 12 noon on the Tuesday). We try to accommodate an urgent request but this cannot be guaranteed. Therefore ensure that you allow plenty of time for your prescription to be issued by us and then dispensed by the chemist to avoid running out of your medication.

If you require your prescription early, please let us know the reason so the GP is able to prescribe appropriately.

Medications Not On Your Repeat Prescriptions

If you have a request for a medication not issued on a regular basis please complete the medicine request form at reception. The GP will then review your request. Please note that this request might take longer than the 24 hours for a repeat prescription and can sometimes result in the GP requesting to see you.
